It’s been a year since I started sharing these capsule wardrobe posts, and I still look forward to putting them together for each new season. Now that we’re back to summer, I wanted to share an updated preppy summer capsule wardrobe. I’ve included a mix of new pieces I’ve frequently been reaching for, like this linen shirt dress, and some of my favorite staple pieces you probably recognize, like my go-to pair of sandals and this striped boatneck t-shirt.
While I don’t follow a strict capsule wardrobe, I like creating a simple outline for one at the start of each season. This helps me take inventory of what I already own and fill in the gaps from there. In addition, curating a collection of pieces that complement each other saves time on days when I can’t decide what to wear. Think of it as a personal uniform of sorts that you can dress up or down! It also helps to stick to a color palette like blue and white to make mixing and matching your pieces easier when picking out an outfit.
A few items that are always in my summer capsules include white jeans, a maxi dress, a striped t-shirt, white sandals, and a woven bag (I have my eye on this one). This year I’m also adding a puff sleeve top, a short black shirt-dress, linen pants, and this cute navy caftan dress.
Tops: Puff Sleeve Top // Navy Ruffle Sleeve Shirt // Striped Boatneck T-Shirt // V-Neck T-Shirt
Bottoms: White Jeans (under $50) // Light Wash Jeans // White Linen Pants // Denim Shorts
Dresses & Swim: Tiered Maxi Dress (under $35) // Black Shirt Dress // Navy Caftan Dress // Gingham One Piece
Shoes: Jack Rogers // Raffia Sandals (under $100) // Freedom Moses Slides // Superga Sneakers
Accessories: Canvas Tote // Straw Basket Tote // Woven Shoulder Bag // Hat ($60) // Black Sunglasses // Pearl Earrings // Bow
The puff sleeve top is one of my favorites! So cute!

Carly, this capsule wardrobe is my love language!
Why a black dress amid all the blue and white and no denim jacket or sweater/sweatshirt for cool nights?
A LBD is a staple for me! Feel free to use this as inspiration and add or subtract pieces that make sense for your lifestyle and existing wardrobe!
